INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE PORSCHE RS-60.
One of the most famous names in racing and the development of the automobile is Dr.
Ferdinand Porsche, a pioneer in the automobile industry. He worked with such companies as
Daimler, Steyr, Benz, Mercedes-Benz and Auto-Union. After World War II his son, Ferry,
continued his father’s work and in 1948 bought out the first Porsche automobile. Porsche
entered world-wide racing in 1952 with the highly efficient twin-overhead cam
rear-engined car. This developed into the famous series which started with the 550 and
the RSK models. The RS-60 was a highly refined version of the earlier Porsches. R
series Porsches dominated the under 2-litre class during the late fifties and early
sixties. The RS-60 was one of the finest racing cars ever produced by Porsche, and it’s
dignity is further enhanced by being one of the honored ancestors of the 904, Porsche’s
latest entry into the road racing.
